The Retracting Clot in Hemorrhagic Cysts
characteristics of retracting clot
filly's rule of retracting clots
- If you can possibly think of a way that a retracting clot could give the appearance you are seeing - Get a follow up sonogram!
how long to wait for followup?
- We typically recommend 6 weeks for a followup
- This will allow a full menstrual cycle to pass and the lesion should be gone
- This will allow you to report "normal ovary"
- If the lesion did, in fact, end up being a malignancy, 6 weeks is unlikely to make a clinically significant difference.
- However, if you want a shorter followup because of great concern, even an interval of 1 week will show changes on resolving clot, whereas neoplastic tissue will not change at all
