It may be time to lower your threshold for recommending fetal echo

• While you shouldn't be recommending fetal echocardiograms in every case, it is our belief that your threshold should be somewhat low.
• If you cannot confirm the findings we have laid out for the outflow tracts, it's time to recommend an echo
• If you are not recommending fetal echos that come back normal, then you're threshold is likely TOO HIGH!

tetralogy of falot 

• Finding: Anterior wall of the aorta does not line up with the interventrciular septum
• Diagnosis: Tetralogy of Falot (Over-riding aorta)

Truncus arteriosus 

• Finding(s)
  • The anterior wall of the aorta does not line up with the interventricular septum
  • The vessel arising from the center of the heart (the "stem of the apple") is branching!
• Diagnosis
  • Truncus Arteriosus

Hypoplastic left heart 

• Finding: On the RVOT, we cannot see the aorta well at all and it is clearly much smaller than the pulmonary artery
• Diagnosis: Hypoplastic Left Heart
